Two tips:
1) Read a Gospel and see the evidence that Jesus provides as God himself walks around on this planet.
2) Read Tim Keller's The Resason for God - especially if you're not able to trust the Gospel accounts. He presents the case for God without presuming you believe in the historical truth of them. You can get it via the Emmanuel E-bookstall.
