Sometimes you can tell when someone is anxious: they, like this man, look it.
And sometimes there is an obvious reason for their anxiety: this man, for instance, was waiting for a job interview.
But other times you have no idea how anxious someone is under the surface of a confident smile.
And often there is no really obvious reason for the anxiety that plagues them every day of their apparently successful lives.
Did you know that anxiety, in numerous shapes and forms, and for a whole host of reasons, is the No.1 pastoral issue in the family of churches that make up Emmanuel Bristol? You might not guess that on a typical Sunday looking around at all those confident smiles, and hearing of people's successful lives, but it is.
With this in mind we're going to spend an evening (7.45-9.30pm) on Thursday 27th November talking about anxiety. The aim is to come having read a short article and then chat about how we can help each other cope better with our fears and worries. We're not going to banish anxiety from our lives in an evening but hopefully we will benefit from knowing we're not alone and that there are others who live with the same sort of issues as we do. You might want to come because this is a live issue for you, or was in the past - or because you are seeking to help an anxious brother or sister in Christ today. Whatever, put the evening in your diary and listen out for ways to sign up nearer the time.
