Why are we male and female? Further resources

Yesterday we continued our series Glorious Ruins: What it means to be human by asking the question Why are we male and female? You can listen to the answers from Genesis 1-2 here.

In seeking to answer this question we touched on so many complicated and controversial topics. If you want to think any of this through a bit more the below might help you.

Questions about sex and marriage:

I'm enthusiast for a great book published last year: Jonathan Grant's Divine Sex. It's available  here. It will help you think through many of the issues we had time to touch on only briefly yesterday.

Questions about the idea of us marrying Christ:

John Piper thinks through Why Sexual Metaphors of Jesus and His Bride Embarrass Us here

Questions about spiritual parenting:

Have listen to my longer ECC talk on the subject Discipling is Parenting here.

Questions about same-sex attraction:

Have a look around the Living Out website here.

Questions about sexual identity issues/ gender dysphoria:

Mark Yarhouse helps us take some first steps in thinking through this issue in his article Understanding the Transgender Phenomenon available here.

Questions about heaven:

Have a listen to a talk I gave on the subject here and have a read of Randy Alcorn's great book Heaven available here.
