Being redeemed can be painful

...we wait for the blessed hope - the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,  who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.Titus 2:14

On Sunday we looked at this verse together and saw how just as God freed his people from slavery in Egypt, in Christ's death on the cross he has redeemed us from slavery to sin. But just as the Israelites getting of Egypt had a lot of Egypt left for God to get out of them, we saw that the Christian life is also a lifelong work of God redeeming us from the power and presence of sin.

I've found this video a helpful reminder that this is what living the Christian life is all about, and that it can sometimes be a painful process, but is always for our good, and God's glory.
