Discipleship 101

Any of us who have grown as Christians will have grown partly because of the prayers, time and effort other Christians have put into caring for us:

  • We were perhaps spiritually parented by that couple who ran our youth group.
  • That friend at university was like an older sister to us.
  • A small group member at our last church was our father in the faith.
And we'd love to do the same. But we lack the confidence - what does it actually involve to effectively disciple another Christian? How do we make it a natural part of our everyday lives? And how might we do it more formally through meeting up regularly 121 with someone?

With people across our church families asking these questions we're putting on an event called Discipleship 101 to help answer them. It will include:

  • Some biblical models for us to be inspired by.
  • Interviews with church family members on how they've made discipleship of others a part of their everyday lives.
  • Input on how more formal 121 discipleship relationships can work in a whole host of different ways.
  • Training from Claire Darley & Ed Shaw on how they've discipled people using particular Bible books.
Our hope and prayer is that it will demythologise something that should be a very natural part of our lives together. Please do join us. All the details are below:
